Books I've been reading

For the sake of my sanity I've decided to condense these book posts! I wasn't really happy with just posting internet pics of the covers but I didn't really know how to convey the books when I only had digital versions. Then of course I realized (ie saw Rachele do it) that I could just take pics of my kinds. So here are my 30 book challenge books number 6 and 7. I've been falling behind on my reading lately, mostly I blame this on crochet and Harvest Moon. I've got stacks of books to read so I really need to get on it! I get into these moods though where all I want to read it terrible YA Lit. The next two books are a pretty good example of these moods.

Clockwork Princess - Cassandra Clare
Beautiful Creatures - Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Clockwork Princess By Cassandra Clare

I have a lot of issues with Cassandra Clare. I'm not going to spell them all out right now but do some google searches on her and you will see what I'm talking about. For some reason though I have read every single book she's written. They're all pretty horrible ... but this one was not. I wanted it to be bad so I could bash it, but it wasn't! It was actually almost good? The final book in the Infernal Devices Trilogy resolves the stories (kind of) of Will, Tessa and Jem. We find out what the crazy robot people are about and there are some battles, some deaths, and some kissing. The whole book has a lot of tie ins with 'The Mortal Instruments' series to which it is a prequel, so I don't think we'll get full closure on these characters until next year when that book comes out, but over all it's maybe worth a read if you're into steampunkish young adult lit.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

I hated this book. There, I said it. I hated this book SO MUCH. It was actually a little painful for me to get through. The story is told through the point of view of the lead male character and he is so whiny and ham fisted and it was awful. At one point he said 'I'm totally different from every other boy because I read, I know! I'm a freak'. YOU ARE NOT DIFFERENT FOR READING. After finishing this book I'm not entirely sure the authors have ever met a teenage boy. I was emailing with a friend while reading and screaming repeatedly about how stupid it was. Like ... TWILIGHT was better than this book! There were a total of 2 good characters and the rest was garbage. I have the second book in the series and I'm going to try and read because I don't know why, but I'm not sure I'll be able to. The whole thing is just ... I can't articulate how stupid it is. You're just going to have to trust me.

Rock Paper Scissors Handmade Spring Show

Saturday was the Rock Paper Scissors spring show! If you follow me on Instagram then you probably caught some of the action through the day. It was a nice show, a lot of friend vendors which is nice. Could have been a bit busier, but it was a nice day, people wanted to be outside, and I don't blame them! I did make some connection and that was worth heading out there all in itself. I also got to road test my new doll display!

Me and Betty of Oh Sew Betty started the Fat and Sassy club. Now we just need jackets and member cards! We're thinking pink satin embroidered with sequin!
Greg (not Dennis, despite me continuing to call him that) orchestrated the whole show and has a really wonderful shop called E R R O L
Amanda from Manny Made never ceases to blow me away with her stuff!
And finally there's me. That outfit ended up being so comfortable I couldn't believe it! The best part was the whole thing cost less than 40 dollars! The pants are from sears and the top is from K-Mart! I love looking stylish for bargain basement prices! Now that the show is done and I have some stock you can expect the etsy to be open soon. I'm very excited!

Fatshion Friday: Fat Arm Club

top: macy's // skirt: asos // jewelry: handmade/boutique

Last week was fat leg's why not do fat arms this week? I've only been wearing tank tops in public for the past few years. Now it's all I want to do all summer long. Who even needs sleeves? I sure don't! Especially today, it was hot, like nice, but hot. So while we sat out on the patio and ate dinner my arms caught all of the cool breezes.

If you haven't gone sleeveless yet it's something you need to try. Don't let anyone tell you that your arms are bad or ugly or ... whatever because they're fat. Your arms are glorious!

this picture isn't an official outfit pic but I decided to include it for a couple reasons. The first is I rarely find candids of myself that I like, but I love this one. Maybe it's my closed eyes or my hand, but whatever it is I enjoy it. The second reason is that you can see some of my arm scars in this picture. I have a lot of terrible keloid scars on my arm that I used to be self conscious about. Now I don't care.  Look at my scars if you want!
